On 25 May Richard and I visited another English Heritage Site called Ashby De La Zouch in Leicestershire. The castle began as a Manor House in the 12th century and became a castle in the 15th century. The castle received lots of damage during the English Civil War but you are still able to climb to the top of the tower - what a view. You can find out more on the history of the place by looking at the English Heritage Website.
These steps led to an underground tunnel
Going further into the tunnel
This little lady was nesting in the stairwell in the tower
